The name is already self-explanatory – the building is shaped like a giant piano with a grand glass violin for an entrance. The open top of the piano serves as a canopy for the home’s roof terrace.
Located in Huainan, in the province of Anhui, China, it was built in 2007 by architectural students at Hefei University of Technology to commemorate advancements in Huainan City. The Piano and accompanying violin entrance are built on a true 50:1 scale, perhaps making them the largest to-scale instruments in the world.
According to Architizer, you access the body of the building via escalators inside the glass violin. The building has escalators, meeting rooms, and space to host weddings and other events. It’s currently being used as a showroom for city planners and would be the perfect place for a pop star with an expendable income and a love for real estate.
At night the piano and violin light up with fluorescent lighting outlining the structures. The buildings have been deemed the most romantic buildings in China by local residents.
